Close, Too Close

Close, A year, Pics, School, and Tired.

Well, it’s 11:14 at night, and I looked over at buddy list, saw scott, and somehow that reminded me it’s blog night. So, here I am.

After looking at old invoices and boxes, and from what I can remember, between November 3rd and 5th was 1 year since my 7600 died, and December 5th will be 1 year since I bought the iBook. Things have changed in the last year, beyond the computer even. With the moving, and the parents and all that, It’s been a long year.

I did some more updating to the website on the pics page. John’s tree is funny.

School is sucking more than ever. C++ and Java just get harder and more frustrating. Glad I only have 6 credits for next semester, I royally need a break. At least the end of the year is just a few weeks away.

Ok, I need sleep, been worn out for like 2 weeks now, need to try to fix it somehow. Maybe Thanksgiving break will help.

Til Wednesday,
nick

Fun, Fun, Fun

Killed the ibook, No Linux, 1000th view, Movies, and School.

Well, I was playing on ibook and, long story short, I screwed up. Just got done with re-installing the OS. Wont do that again.

I also learned that its just not possible to install linux on a Powerbook 5300. Not easily anyway. I tried several different methods, but it just didn’t want to work.

After the 400th visitor fiasco, I am glad to say that the 1000th page view went much better. Yes, Nicholas Suchyta was the 1000th page view.

No more movies recently. Still going for T3, and Bruce almighty comes out next week.

School is going ok. I told my Java teacher why I am falling behind, and he completely understood. Java and Obj. Oriented C++ is alot. Next semester will be lighter.

And uhm, thats it.
yeah.

Til Sunday,

Tired

IBEW 2, Movie week, Matrix revelation, TV, Toast, and Delta winter.

Hi. How are you? Yeah, same here.

Had second IBEW interview today, went. Thats about it, wasn’t good or bad or anything, it just went.

Movie week is over. I am back to realizing how much TV sucks. T3 came out today, so I will need to go and try getting that.

I finally figured out the end of matrix revolutions. At least I think I did. Is one of those movies that is very open to interpretation.

Andy Griffith marathon is on. God TV sucks. Would rather watch the State of the Union address. I need the NASA channel, so I can watch Cinemax (don’t ask, long story).

I finally have Toast working, so I can copy CDs. Toast 6 has a lot of extra goodies in it too. VCD burning and some other stuff, haven’t looked through a whole lot yet. Has some stuff it builds into finder too, to make life easier. Will see if it really does.

I registered for winter semester at Delta yesterday, and paid today. $450, ouch. And still need to buy books sometime in December. Good thing I’m only taking 3 classes/6 credits.

Ok, I am REALLY tired, so going to wrap this up and head to bed.

See you all Friday…

Those aren’t rust holes,
their Aerodynamic Enhancement Modules
a.k.a. Air Resistance Decrementation Units.

(I want to figure one out thats comes out as R.U.S.T., but cant figure it out
Resistance Underminers for Smoother Transit?)

Boredom Happens

Juneau? Alaska, Video, Winter Sem., AAC to MP3, Movie week continues, I worked, and the Weather.

I was a bit too bored last night. I spent well over an hour looking for “the Last Zip Code”. It is: 99929 – Wrangell, Alaska (AK). I also found that Barrow, AK is the northernmost settlement in North America, and it is currently a whopping 8 degrees there, with a wind chill of 11 below.

I think I need a video camera. I could make some cool movies. I found a few on ebay for like $35 – $50 but they are analog, so I would need to shell out more for a video importer for my
ibook. Maybe I should just wait til I can afford a digital.

I am sticking with 6 credits for Winter semester. Why? 1: I can’t find any classes I want that fit my schedule. 2: I need to pay $70ish for each credit.

I am re-importing my cds onto computer. Using AAC instead of MP3s. The 128 kbit AAC I am making definitely sounds at least as good as the 160 Kbit MP3s I had, but the higher frequencies are a bit stronger, will need to adjust the equalizer.

Have watched Monsters Inc., and Head of State over last 2 nights. Tonight is Shanghai Knights. I just finally saw Shanghai Noon a few weeks ago. Thats 7 nights in a row, it really is movie week.

Ok, worked today so not up for a big blog. Thats whats happening in my life, enjoy it.

And now for your local (or not) weather:

Allentown, PA:
31˚F
Wind Chill 24˚F
Wind North Northwest at 7

Barrow, AK:
8˚F
Wind Chill -11˚F
Wind east at 22

Bay City, MI:
23˚F
Wind Chill 17˚F
Wind South Southwest at 5

Marquette, MI:
16˚F
Wind Chill 16˚F
Wind South Southwest at 3

now go away!

If it ain’t broke, your not trying hard enough.

Must be Movie Week

Movies, Matrix, School, Suchyta’s blog, Dumb visitors, SC Johnson is stupid.

Sunday night, I watched Holy Grail, Monday night was Mall Rats, Last Night was the Hulk and Finding Nemo, this afternoon I saw the Matrix Revolutions, and after the blog I will be watching the Italian Job.

Matrix was awesome. I would call it the lesser of the three, but still better than most other movies that come out. Best fight seen of the trilogy though.

I have HTML tomorrow. That’s good, because I couldn’t handle a real class. I arrived in C++ yesterday to find out there was a test. She didn’t feel she needed to tell us because it was on the syllabus. I think a reminder would have been nice, and I’m sure my grade will back me up.

Suchyta has a blog now. It’s so small and cute. There’s only one post, so looks funny. Will grow with time.

My visitors are now by a good majority people who are looking for ser*al numbers and found one of the blog pages by google. It’s sad, I have like 5 hits a day now and I don’t really want them, because their all morons looking on websites for ser*als. LOOK ON LIMEWIRE DUMB SHITS!

Ever see the commercial for SC Johnson talking about family tradition and such? You realize ALL of SC Johnson’s major consumer products (Ziploc, Glade, and Pledge) are products that they BOUGHT from DOW? Family tradition my ass, acquiring good products and calling them your own. Try inventing something of your own schmucks.

Ok, I got nothing else. Time for Italian Job. Go away now.

Don’t mind me, just passing through, going about my business.
What is my business?

Close One

Nonsense, utter nonsense.

Wow, I finally get blog back up, and almost forgot to post already. Must be that not posting for a week thing having it’s effect.

Lets start with saying my HTML teacher is kinda hot. Well, for an almost-40-Delta-professor, she is hot. Hell, most students at Delta aren’t all that.

I bought “The Art of Deception” by Kevin Mitnick today. Hope to start at least browsing through it soon. For any of you who don’t know who he is, just google him.

It’s raining, and I am bored. I cant think of anything to write, so I am babbling.

Ever notice that birds are always coupled? PAIRakeets, cockaTWO… weird.

I wonder how long this blog will go on. How do you stop a blog anyway? Do you just, stop? Or do you increase the time between updates exponentially, til there just aren’t any more?

Hmm.

I am sure I will get tired of blogging at some point, just not sure when. Oh well, it’s not today.

I decided it is the Mexican’s fault that instructions are so bad. Don’t get me wrong, I have many friends that are Mexican (well, 1, but you need to understand I don’t have many friends anyway). Anyway, if not for the Mexican’s needing bilingual instructions, there would be only english in the book, and thus they could give twice the explanation they do now. I guess, its the damn Canadians fault too, for needing French. I do hate the French. Bastards.

So another thing I was thinking, is that I must not have a life, that I sit here and write this blog. But then, I realized that you all sit and read this blog. I feel better now.

Ok, thats all til Wednesday. Matrix Revolutions comes out Wednesday. Cool.

bye,
nick

In life, the winner is the guy who is frugal for 80 years, and saves all his money, even if it means being teased by friends. Then, when the friends die, he buys all their cool stuff for cheap at the estate sale. That’s who the winner is… Yeah…

Woohoo

Fin. Aid rebate, Panther, and School. Plus complaining.

I got my check. And guess what…

It was for full $2500!

Delta said it would be for $1250 because they split the MEAP award over two semesters, but I got it all! Problem is, I need to attempt to restrain paying too many bills, because I need to save some to pay for delta next semester.

One problem: I got check just before class, class was 4 – 6, and bank closed at 5. So I am sitting here with the check and never got it cashed. Tomorrow morning I guess.

Three days till Panther! Some people have reported it having been shipped, but few are saying this, and we will see when they arrive. Mine is listed as “open” with 2 day shipping, so should go out tomorrow. Hope it arrives before we leave Friday, would be cool to show up to Apple Store running Panther before the schmucks in line can even buy it.

Next Thursday (the 31st) I finally start my HTML class. Should be easy, I mean, it’s HTML. The other classes are going fine.

Ok, off to dream of what to do with my money. I am going to Apple Store this week, and G5 starts at a mere $1999…

And Friday update will be fairly early, will post before we go to Troy. May update the post when we get home.

Till friday,
nick

HEY! I am running out of quotes, seriously!
And use the comments or lose them, having all those (0)s is a bit of a downer.

Money in, Money out

Interview, Panther, Fin. Aid, Breaks, and Website.

Hello world, and how are you?

I just got back from IBEW interview. Turns out this was just the residential interview, so I should be receiving another letter in the mail for the lineman interview. Went well though. They started 20 minutes late, which didn’t help nervousness, but was fine.

Only about a week till Panther. Can’t wait. My iBook is becoming rather bit-rotted after almost a year, and I need to re-install anyway. All those programs I tried and then deleted have little fragments laying around that need to be removed. That alone should bring a fairly nice speed boost.

I also have learned that financial aid rebates come out next week. I think Jason said Monday the 21st though, which confuses me, being Monday is the 20th. I think will be 21st though, as I remember last year it was a Tuesday because I picked it up during break in Environmental Biology. Problem is, I owe most of it to my mom, plus I just found out I need new breaks. Life is so nice.

I did some work on website. Added a Dangers of Dihydrogen Monoxide page. Is on the “Everything Else” page in side bar of website. Scott sent me a link to another DHMO danger site, which I have a link to on the bottom of the page. I have given up on CSS and #include, as they don’t want to work like I want. That and Apple’s server doesn’t fully support some of what I want them to do. So I guess I will just need to do copy – paste for the repetitive stuff. No biggie.

Ok, thats all for now. Close the door on your way out.

bye,
nick

Bow before me, for I am root!

Something Different

Panther, Website tools, Counter details, Visitor countries, and the “Something Different.”

Hi all, hope you had a good weekend. What do you say we start with news.

Mac OS X 10.3 may be out this month. Rumors point to between the 24th and the 30th. Every day they seem to become more reliable, and the date becomes more likely on the 30th.

I downloaded the demo of Dreamweaver MX 2004. Supposed to have really good CSS support, will play with it for a while. Also want to try GoLive CS, the successor to my current app GoLive 6.0. Yes, I do know HTML, but you should see website code. Not too horrible using tables, but going to CSS will make hand coding very ugly.

Because some have asked, there are 2 main reasons I removed counter details. First is it shows most of your IP address, which isnt nice. Granted, its not all, but it brings it from near infinite possibilities to 256, which I don’t like. Second (and really the only, main, and most important) is that it was only a 60 day trial to list on website. Unless you want to pay $10 a month to see your IP, it’s over. I can still see it though, and I have thus far had visitors from: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, the UK, and the US.

Pretty good for a little blog in Bay City.

Uhm, what else. I guess thats it, so here is the “Something Different.” In 10th grade, I had to re-write a fairy tale as an English assignment. I did so, got a good grade, and didn’t think about it again. While cleaning my room this weekend (which isn’t done) I came across this story and a poem. Today, you get the fairy tale, and Thursday, you will get the poem. Is just copied and pasted from word doc, which was scanned in from the old printout, so all spelling is only up to my 10th grade skills (which are probably higher than now). Formatting and font will likely get screwed up.

Enjoy,
nick

My Beauty and the Beast short story was originally posted here, but has since been moved to the Portfolio Section.

Hello? Is this thing on?

Casino trip, CARS return, Apple Expo, and School

Went to casino with Suchyta tonight, just got back. Had fun, left only a bit behind. I have zero luck.

Crazy Apple Rumors is back from Vacation, after over a month. Just in time to cover Apple Expo in Paris, 3 AM ET, Tuesday morning (about 4 hours from now.) Possibilities include new Powerbooks, new ibooks, new Xserves, new displays, release of Panther, itunes for windows, and a few iapps. Powerbooks are most likely. Too bad it wont be webcast, at least not live. Last years was, its available here.

School is going ok, though Unix becomes more boring everytime I think about it. Should have taken online, she just doesn’t have enough to keep us interested for 2 hours.

Virtual PC is being a bitch about my printer. I may have a fix coming though. More on that later.

Wow, I just realized how little of this matters. Its all crap. Go read CARS, it’s much better. And watch the Gollum video on main webpage, it’s coming down soon.

Til next time,
nick
