It's Noon, and I'm Bored, So Why Not?

Categories, Future, Movie, and Grandma. UPDATED!

First of all, though you probably didn’t notice, the “Blogger” category is gone. I went through last night and marked them all as “Blogger post #XX” and then incorporated them into the other categories. There will be a new category coming soon though, very soon.

I also did some calculating the other day, and came up with this:

May 13, 2005 – 250th Post
May 19, 2005 – 200th General (earliest)
Oct 10, 2005 – 300th Post

I think those are right anyway. Note that the 200th General is listed as earliest, since every non-general post will push that date back by 3 days.

Yesterday we watched Troy. A good movie, based largely on the Iliad. If you liked Gladiator, you will like Troy.

Grandma is doing better. Main problem now seems to be that she is dopy from the medication. She doesn’t complain about pain as much though, and is starting to get used to not being able to use her arm.

Ok, I gonna go. Remember, MacWorld is tomorrow, Keynote is at 12 (Yay!, wait, they said no live webcast this year BOOOO!)

update: I just read through my comments and thought I should add that I haven’t started toward any resolutions yet. Thats one of those things about new year’s resolutions, you have all year to work at them.

Wow

Chris, Grandma (the Wow), Saginaw, and Movies.

Thats all that can describe it. Wow.

So, Chris made it to Toronto Ok, and seems to be doing well. He got a little lost on his way, but school is going well from what I hear.

On Wednesday morning my grandma was to go in for rotator cuff surgery at 5, for the operation at 8. Around 4:45 the phone rings and it’s my uncle Steve. After chatting with home for a few minutes, my mom realizes he isn’t at home in Allentown, PA, he is sitting in his van at the end of our driveway, where he had been for about 3 hours. So, he and a co-worker of his went with my mom and grandma for the surgery. He has always had a habit of showing up without saying anything. He left a little after 10 Wednesday night without sleeping, but stopped in Ohio because the roads were getting pretty bad. Grandma is doing fine, though understandably sore.

I went to Saginaw with Jenn today. First to Kohl’s to try and exchange my gloves that came apart (with no success), then to Dick’s to try and find a matching sleeping bag to mine (again, no success). You always feel bad when you come home with no accomplishments. I did buy Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy though. And we found out her ring should be in come morning.

Bourne Supremacy wasn’t great. Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, however, was. A truly great “stoner” movie. You have to see it.

OK, thats all for tonight. Monday I shall return, and Thursday I will tell you all about the fun new things Steve brings us at MacWorld on Tuesday.

There are several sacred things in this world that you don’t EVER mess with. One of them happens to be another man’s fries. Now, you just remember that and you’ll live a long and healthy life.

Movies

Movies, Chris, and his new computer.

Last night we watched Napoleon Dynamite, and it was not impressive. It was decent, but not very good. The kind of movie that you keep watching only to see if it gets better, but it never does. I also watched the Jerk and Men at Work on TBS. Tonight we rented Troy, Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, and the Bourne Supremacy. Haven’t watched any of the new ones yet.

Yesterday my brother left for school for 2 months. He left around 4:30, though he was supposed to be gone at 9 in the morning. Troubles with his truck held him up.

He got a new ibook too. Is a 3 year old original ibook, blueberry, worth $600 but paid $100.

Ok, back Friday.

Happy New Year!

Resolutions, and cool spot.

Happy New Year to you all, all 4 of you (maybe). Hard to believe its 2005. Seems like just a few months ago we were writing 9x on papers, heck, I remember writing 89 on papers.

So, new year means new years resolutions, and mine are mostly the same as last year.

  1. Clean my room (and KEEP it clean, would be a good idea)
  2. Get in better shape. this is a multi-part thing:
    • ride bike more (this means not leaving it at Jenn’s for the summer)
The rest is actually from the requirement of Coast Guard training camp graduation:
    • 29 push-ups in a minute
    • 38 sit-ups in a minute
    • 1.5 mile run in 16.50
    • sit and reach of 15.5cm*
    • swim 100 meters then tread water 5 minutes

*sit and reach: sit on the floor and reach out with your legs flat, your fingers must extend x cm beyond toes. Is a measure of flexibility.

  3. Do a better job with the blog. This past year has been some sucky blogging. The website updates have been all but nonexistent, the regular blog updates have been consistently late, and well, it’s just not been what it should be.

So, in other news I found one of the coolest points in the US. You may all be aware that as you travel north through Michigan, you pass a maker stating you are passing the 45th parallel, “halfway from the Equator to the North Pole” (the actual halfway point is 10 miles north, since the Earth is slightly elliptical). Well, as you travel west, in Wisconsin, you will also cross the 90th meridian. So, naturally, there comes this point (scroll to bottom, then to 3rd pic up). Thats right, the exact middle of the North-east quadrasphere (quadrasphere?) Cool, huh? I guess though that the real cool point is again 10 miles north, and would likely require a GPS.

OK, thats all for today.
Again, Happy New Year,

And So This is Christmas

Alpena, Gifts Given, and Gifts Received.

So Jenn and I went to Alpena Thursday night. We stopped at Pizza Hut in Tawas for dinner, and talked to her parents for a while after getting there fairly late. Friday we went to see her best friend Gwen then to her Grandma’s house and I met her Dad’s side of the family. We spent a few hours there, then went to see her former fellow employees at Staples. On Sunday, we had a big breakfast, then opened gifts. Following all the gift exchanging we had Christmas dinner of ham, roast beef, potatoes, carrots, rolls, and sweet potatoes. We left for home a little after, and visited my grandparents for a while after returning.

A note on the trip though, pertaining to air beds. Thursday I fell asleep on an air bed, and by 3 woke up on the floor. After a few minutes of trying to re-inflate, I just went to sleep. After 3 patches throughout Friday, I managed (I thought) to fix the 1/2″ separation in the seam. But no, each time I awoke through Friday night I was slightly lower. So for all those interested in an air bad, make sure you carry patch kits and duct tape.

So, gifts I gave to people…

For my Mom, I got a telescoping snow brush. Her truck is big, and her old brush wasn’t cutting it.
For my Brother, a pair of pretty cool wire strippers. Insert any wire (10 to 22 gauge) and squeeze. Easy as that.
For my Dad, a TracFone card.
And for Jenn, a very nice pearl and sapphire ring.

I also went along with Jenn for gifts for her parents, sister, and my grandma.

Gifts I received…

A new Dockers coat and matching gloves from Mom.
A Keyspan Media Remote, ThinkGeek Pi shirt, set of coasters, and grooming set from Jenn.
A Belkin USB light and a pair of flannel pants from Dad.
A pair or divided pans from Jenn’s sister.
A giant can of Kool-aid, Cashews, and War and Peace (the book) from Jenn’s mom.
A sleeping bag and cash from my grandparents.
and some more cash from my Uncle Mike.

I think Chris is getting me something, an I will likely be getting a Hess truck from my Uncle Steve, as I have for 15+ years, and I haven’t yet actually given my dad his gift yet.

So thats about it. Guess I will be back on Wednesday.

Merry Christmas (in 2 days)

3 points, thats it.

A few things to make note of

1) Scott, why do you hate Zales?

2) I will be leaving tonight for Alpena, so I will be unavailable until at least Saturday evening.

3) The guy that bought my video card on eBay (the videocard caused problems already when the last person who won it refused to pay) requested his money back claiming it was “old and worn out”. No, I am not refunding.

That’s all. News on the trip and a Christmas wrap-up Sunday evening.

General Congratulatory Remarks Toward Your Respective Nondenominational Winter Holliday!

Chinese, Gifts, and Christmas.

So lets see…

We did our Chinese today. It was good. Nice to see Scott and Sarah. We even got gifts from the restaurant. A nice bamboo type wall calendar.

Jenn and I exchanged gifts on Saturday. I received the ThinkGeek Pi t-shirt, a grooming kit, a set of coasters, and a Keyspan Media Remote for my computer. She received a pearl and sapphire ring from Zales. We exchanged early so she could show it off before we left for Christmas to Alpena, since when we get back it needs to be resized, which takes about 2 weeks. Had I known that I would have given it to her earlier, but I just found out on Saturday morning.

Hmmm…

Well, as I hinted, I will be in Alpena for Christmas. We are leaving either Thursday or Friday, and will be back Saturday evening or Sunday, depending on weather.

I think thats it. Guess I will see you all Thursday.

Not much

Well, I finished the game. About 2:15 this morning. It would have been sooner, but I had to go live my life. Damn people wanting me to do stuff. Oh well.

Uhm , actually that’s most of what I’ve done. And I haven’t really even played the game lately.

I’m watching a SouthPark about satanic woodland animals. It’s one of the most screwed up episodes I’ve seen, but I haven’t really seen many.

Anyway, I sadly think that’s it.

I didn’t want to blog, cause I enjoyed not blogging for 9 days, but now I’m sad because I have nothing.

Ooh!

The job.

It was pulled the next day, so that’s a no. But, I found another one and applied yesterday. I am 0% qualified, but I still have about 10% hope, and that’s amazing. (No, thats not a typo, I meant 10%, not 100%. Just wanted to point that out.)

OK, that’s it. Good bye.

“Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.”

!!!!!!!!!! 200th !!!!!!!!!!

200, Jobs, and Game.

Yeay! Two hundred posts. That’s freaking insane. That means it’s been 600 days? Wow. I can’t believe I’ve written that much crap.

I don’t think I mentioned it, but Nextel never happened. They were only interviewing on the 1 day. Oh well, I will find something. I would of course prefer sooner than later. I did see a cool job on Michigan Works today, as a rail car mechanic and inspector. I have no mechanics experience though. I will look into it a little more though, as it sounds like it could be cool.

So yeah, as I said last time, I’ve been playing MGS3, hence the last 2 posts being made today. I am almost done with it though. The Metal Gear series is awesome, if you like that kind of game. It’s like a movie that lasts a week.

All right, I think that wraps it up. Back Friday I guess.
