Still More Site Updates

Search results, Updates, and Comment Reply

So after looking on search engines, I have found that I am listed on Yahoo, Altavista, and the google blog search, but not on MSN, Lycos, or main google. I did find that it can take 5-8 months to exit the google “sandbox” though, and since site in only 3 months old, and last site took about that long, I have decided everything is OK, though I would prefer to be listed. Also, I am wondering when the old site will be removed from search results, since it hasn’t existed in a month and a half.

I added a site history page, including screen shots of the old sites. I also updated the site’s front page and to-do list, and tinkered with the style sheet. I am liking it much more now, but still requires more work. Also, I changed to a different poll, and think this is the one. It is actually a WordPress plugin, so integrates very well. Easy for me to edit, and seems to work well for you too. We will see how it goes.

As far as Sarah’s comment on the weather, no, I cannot like this weather. Yes, today is better than the past few, but high winds and snow just aren’t for me. Like I said a month ago, I like Autumn, it’s just too bad it’s only a month long season. Thank you for commenting though.

The Joy of Wikipedia

10 Things That Came Out of My Ear.

So I’m sitting and my ear starts to itch. Upon giving it a good pick, I find some ear wax. I become curious as to weather ear wax is in fact a wax and decide to do a check on wikipedia.

  1. No, ear wax is not real wax, its a mixture of sweat and very thick oils
  2. SC Johnson is listed, since they are a major wax producer
  3. SC Johnson lists Ziploc and other brands that they bought from Dow Chemical
  4. Dow Chemical was founded in Midland to take advantage of brine reserves, and originally produced chlorides and bromides
  5. After entering the polymer market, they were approached by Corning Glass for a joint venture to produce silicones
  6. Corning Glass invented fiber-optic cable as we know it
  7. Dow and Corning’s joint venture is named Dow Corning
  8. Dow Corning is the current owner of the Silly Putty patent, though it is distributed by Binney & Smith, it is named SILly putty because it is SILIcone based, it is also available as “Dow Corning 3179 Dilatant Compound”
  9. Dow Corning creates a way to produce polycrystaline silicon, spins process off in seperate devision, Hemlock Semiconductor
  10. Portion of Hemlock Semiconductor bought by Mitsubishi Materials Corp.

All that from an ear itch?
Fun fun.

New Toys

New iPods, iTunes, and iMac

OK, I don’t have new toys, but Apple announced new ones today. First up is video capable ipods. Also, is the additions of more music videos as well as TV episodes to the iTunes Music Store. Currently, they only have Pixar shorts and a selection of Disney/ABC series including Desperate Housewives, Lost, That’s So Raven, and a few more. But, you can view them on your computer or iPod, or transfer them to your iPod and view on your TV.

Other new toy is new iMacs. Now up to 1.9 or 2.1GHz G5, 512MB RAM (DDR-533, ooh), faster ATi X600 128MB Vid. Cards, and 160, 250, or 500GB HD. The big new features though are that they ship with a remote to control your songs, videos, and pictures, including a new interface for browsing them all in one place and direct access to the online move trailer collection. Also, is a now-integrated webcam in the top of the iMac, for video conferencing, taking your pic for a buddy icon, or whatever else you want. I really like these, but still don’t see me buying one since A) I don’t have $1599 and B) the Intel switch will obsolete all PowerPC based Macs, despite them being better chips.

That’s all for today, check all the new stuff out on Apple’s site. General update tomorrow.

Doop

iTunes, Mill End, RV Show, Arby’s, and Site

It’s a strange thing. I use iTunes for all my music on my computer (like 99.9% of all mac users) and like many jukebox programs, it allows you to rate songs. I have a problem with this though, It allows you to choose from between 0 to 5 stars for each song. Why would you even have a song though, if you only thought of it as a 0 or 1 star? Hell, anything under a 4 should probably go. So, you need to totally rethink the way things are categorized when you rate your songs. It really screws with my head to do it.

Mill End is now at 70% off everything, right down to the racks and lights. I need to get over there and see what’s left.

Jenn and I went to the Birch Run RV show. It was pretty cool, some neat stuff.

We also ate at Arby’s. The gyros are good, but lamb is better.

I have currently spent $0.15 on bandwidth/storage. Not bad really. I figured like $3 a year, and $0.26 a month, so we aren’t too bad yet.

All right, See you Monday, with more than this I hope.

I Want to Play the Bagpipes

Bagpipes, Move, BDay, Job (Maybe), School, Camping, Site, Fishing, and Yard.

I do, sadly, I really do. I think it would be cool. Nobody would like me while I learned, especially my family and neighbors and anyone else I practiced around, but who cares, in the end I would be able to play the bagpipes! I mean, how hard could it be, really?

Also, in researching all this, I found a band called Enter the Haggis. Seriously, a scottish bagpipe rock band. Some of their songs are actually really good, to me anyway, but I want to play the bagpipes, so what do I know.

So, to get started I need to get a practice chanter, which is basically the part of the bagpipe that goes from your mouth to the bag, looks kinda like a flute. This is what your supposed to learn on when your first starting out, and to practice new songs even when your an old vet. I have seen them on eBay and the sorts for $35ish. Also, I am going to ask some people at the river of time for suggestions. I have no intention of jumping right in after all, since I am poor, and I am afraid of the horrible sounds I will make.

In other news, There is this post, the 26th, and the 29th, thats it, in case I haven’t warned you enough.

Thursday is 2 weeks to my birthday.

Two weeks from today I have an interview for RadioShack. Hopefully I get an interview this time, instead of just standing around waiting then being told to go home, after being told 3 times that the store I am applying for isn’t hiring despite me having talked to the store’s manager just 2 days earlier and being told they were.

I still don’t have books for school, they weren’t in yesterday when we went to look. I will try Thursday, and if not go early for call Monday. Is scary I have only like 5 days left, especially after 481 days off (as of today).

Tomorrow will be a year since Jenn and i went to Mackinaw. We are trying to work in a camping trip the week after Labor Day, and I would like another one during fall colors. We will see.

I have the gallery up , as well as an online status indicator on the new site. Gallery is pretty much as it was on this site. I will be making modifications to it over tonight though.

Today Jenn and I went fishing at State Park, and I caught the biggest weed I ever have. Really, this was a big weed, like 4 foot long, and weighed a metric shitload too!

Also today, I installed our back screen door, and yesterday we finished the fence.

OK, I think that is it.

Till
Friday,

nick

Darkmatter, each pound of which weighs more than 10000 pounds!

Emu Feel Funny

Fair, Yard, and Move.

Let’s see. Jenn and I went to the fair tonight. The livestock auction was going, so she got really excited about that. We went through the animal barns, then walked around and there were 2 petting zoos. Emu, camel, sheep, goats, cows, chicks, rabbits, donkey, and those humpback cow looking things.

The back entrance is re-roofed, sided, and will be insulated tomorrow. The fence is also coming along.

Notice the link above to the new blog, that’s where I going. Work is progressing OK for now.

That’s probably it. I can’t think of anything else anyway.

I just wanted to know if you wanted another seaman on your poop deck?
