Change and Dreams

Just an off the wall rant.

I need to do something, I need something to change. I have all these dreams of things and I never do anything to bring them true. I once heard that dreams can’t come true, because then they would no longer be a dream, so maybe I should take the hint, or maybe I should stop calling them dreams and start calling them goals. That could be a good first step.

Anyway though, I want to ride my bike more, and swim better, and jog more, and maybe enter a bike race or triathlon, but I never do. I want to move out, and get a cool car, but I don’t even have a job to pay for what I have now. I want to read more, and be able to say I have read all the classics, and talk of great philosophers, and have a grand library of my own, but I seldom even read the books I have.

I want all these things, but I never act on them. I don’t even know why. Shouldn’t wanting something make you strive for it? Maybe I don’t really want them, just idly dream about them, and as dreams they can never become true. I don’t know.

I guess this isn’t a great time, because I am doing stuff, unlike over the last winter when I just sat and didn’t do much of anything for 6 months. Still though, I could, nay, should be doing something more.

Oh well, I just felt like a good off the wall rant, rather than the usual boring update.

Comments welcome.

You’re no special agent, you’re just some jerk that hates my mustache!

Five Thousand!

5000, Poll, Clothes, Back, and Room.

Yeay! Five thousand visitors! Yeay!

OK, so not really. Probably closer to 10 visitors 500 times. But still. It’s more than you got.

So, after about 10 hours of thinking it was Scott, I double checked and through a goof by SiteMeter improperly listing Win XP and Firefox, noticed it was Jenn’s IP. So, Jenn was 5000, thus winning the prize for being 5000, and for correctly guessing in the poll.

New poll next time by the way.

I have 2 new shirts and a new pair of shorts courtesy of Jenn. Thank you again.

The back entrance is going a bit slower than I hoped. Hopefully we can gain some on it this weekend.

I have been trying to clean my room some. It’s, uhm, going.

I think that’s it. See you Thursday.

When asked what would happen if a freighter hit the Mackinac bridge, the designing engineer said “The boat would sink, with a great loss of life no doubt”.

Happy Independence Day!

4th, Fireworks, Danielle, Cells, the Back, and Movie.

Yes, happy 4th, though its only the 3rd, but just the same.

Jenn and I went to the fireworks, and sat behind the condos on water. We sat with my dad. I think behind DoubleTree was better, but it was still good.

My brother’s ex, Danielle, who I used to have a pic of and will eventually put back up, died on Thursday night. My brother in typical fashion says it doesn’t bother him, but is really quiet and just wants to sit at home lately.

I have become re-obsessed with cell phones again (see 9/18/04, 6/11/03, and 6/4/03). Just wanted to mention that.

Back entrance is coming along. We have a wall up now, and cement is in. As I said last time (I think) about 2 weeks.

And finally, if anyone really likes me, you could take me to see Fantastic 4 next weekend (as in, pay for me, cause I poor).

OK, that’s all.

I have reached the next level of denial in the Apple-Intel saga. I now see the irony in future Macs containing Intel chips, and future XBoxs containing PowerPC chips.

Boomstick Edition

Back Entrance, Cousin, Suchyta, and Fin Aid.

Well, the blocks are finally done, and the area has been back-filled with sand. The concrete truck arrives tomorrow morning at 10:00 to lay the slab, then we can go to walls. Stick walls should go much faster than the block walls did. Probably get at least a wall per day, then a day or 2 for the roof. I give it 2 weeks at the most, honest.

My cousin Scott is going to be in town on the 4th. I haven’t seen him in probably 5 to 8 years, I think.

I saw Suchyta online yesterday, but he wouldn’t talk to me. I don’t know what the hell is up with him.

I finally got my Financial Aid paperwork in, so I can get it all filled out and maybe get a degree that is more useful than my AS Transfer (liberal arts).

OK, nothing else I can think of.

THIS is my BOOM stick!

Yeah, It's Definitely Summer

Concert, Lupe, Job, Chinese, Heat, and Visitors

Saturday night Jenn and I went to the Foreigner concert at Vets Park. There were something like 10,000 people there. We had to wait in line for 30 minutes to get in the gate, and were in about 7:05, with the concert starting at 7. There were 2 opening bands, with the main act finally beginning around 9:30. By 10:30, after hearing “Jukebox Hero” (my main reason for coming, too bad all the songs were over-amplified) we left to beat the other 9,998 people out.

I saw LupĂ© there. Poor stupid mexican, enlisted in the Army and broke his shoulder a week before graduating boot camp, got kicked out. His dad was offering me jobs, but I didn’t take.

Speaking of jobs, I applied for a really cool one, but it was pulled from the site a few hours later. No word from them about why.

Last night Jenn and I went to Old Great Wall Buffet. They have rear parking now, in case the front fills up, which it does. They had boiled eggs, and Jenn had one, I said you should get some more, and mix the yolks with some tarter sauce and hot mustard, she did, and said they were pretty good deviled eggs. Of course, everything at OGW is always good.

It is currently 80 degrees, with a heat index of 84 AT ALMOST MIDNIGHT! This is getting pretty shitty. The humidity being so high certainly doesn’t help. It makes you feel like your 10 lbs. heavier and gravity is pissed off at you or something.

I am at 4931 visitors, only 69 to go for my 5000. Thats one hell of a marker, I must say. Just think, about 2 more years I will be getting to 10,000. Wow.

OK, that’s it I guess. See you on Thursday, and stay cool.

Just remember, heat makes peppers produce more oils, and oils make peppers hot, so come late summer, we can all have awesome homemade salsa. That’s really all the consolation I can give for the heat.

Behind

Blog, Backyard, and Tomorrow.

So, I finally have the new poll, 2 blogs after I promised it, and still haven’t gotten up the pictures I promised. In all honesty though, it has been way too hot to do much.

The back entrance blocks should be done tomorrow, and filled with sand Monday, for concrete Tuesday. Then we can put in some temporary steps, pour the bottom landing concrete, more steps, and walls, then a roof, then the patio, and then final grading, then grass and final landscaping. Yeah, were almost done.

Tomorrow night Jenn and I are going to the Foreigner concert and maybe St. Stans afterward.

I think that is all.

Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most.

I Got Nothing

A little, mostly Jenn’s Birthday.

Really, not much happened. My grandma finally came home, and Roger is back and I worked for a bit yesterday, but thats about it.

Well, Jenn’s birthday happened, that’s something. We went to Grandpa Tony’s and she was served a strawberry daiquiri a whole 20 minutes early. She went home to see her dad for Father’s Day, and returned Monday night.

We might have the foundation walls for the back entrance done this week. Maybe, very maybe.

I guess that’s it. I will try for a new poll tomorrow, and I need to get the pictures back up, including all the camping pics.

Guess that’s it.

“You’re gonna need a bigger boat.”

I love that scene from jaws, the guy has such a great look on his face after the shark surfaces.

Jenn's Birthday

21, Moms, Walk, Fire, and Missed again.

Jenn’s 21st Birthday is in about an hour and 15 minutes, so we are getting ready to go to Grandpa Tony’s for dinner, so she can get a drink at 12. Needless to say, she is excited.

Jenn’s Mom came down yesterday, and she and my Mom met for the first time.

My mom and I walked the dogs Thursday night, and after about an hour we ended up at Jenn’s, 4 miles away. That was a LONG walk.

Todd Stevens had a bon fire last night, and Jenn and I went for a while. Always fun.

I realized earlier today that I missed the Blogiversary. May 27th the blog became 2. Here’s to a great 3rd year.

OK, we are leaving now, so see you later.

New Poll Tuesday.

Apple, Now With Extra Dark Side

Apple, Mike, and Weather.

Bastards. How could they do it? After the toasted bunnies and all. Apple has announced they are switching to Intel processors. It is truly a confusing and troubling time for us all. I could go on about my theories of how this could outright kill Apple, or kill their hardware business, or their software business, or how its an evil plan to get rid of the Mac and become iPod only. But no, I won’t, because you probably don’t care.

There is also this long story about statistics that I keep wanting to tell, but you probably again don’t care. Besides, it is hot as hell and I don’t care if you care or not anyway, and just don’t feel like giving the effort.

Speaking of which, what the hell! It’s Michigan, were the crazy guys up north that are like Canadians, but don’t say “eh” as much. Why the hell is it 90 F-ing degrees out? Arlene is coming, maybe she will cool us down.

OK, I go sit in front of the fan.

See you Wednesday.

– Mark Twain

I’m Baaack

Explanation, WWDC, Yard, Storm, Trip, and Camping.

Sorry about my week long absence. It wasn’t really my absence though, it was my computers. There is a bug in a video chip on some iBooks that causes them to fail, and mine was one of those. Thankfully, Apple recognized it as an issue, and the repair was thusly free, though it did take a week to request, send, and receive. I lost video Monday morning, and received iBook back this morning. Hopefully it will be good to me for some time now.

I am reading an update stream from Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference right now. There have been (in my opinion) false rumors going around that Apple may be switching to Intel chips. I think reality is that they are, but not as the main CPU, but as they already did a year ago for RAID controllers in some of their rack-mount equipment. Anyway, I will probably know the truth by the end of this blog.

So, the back entrance is gone, the patio is too, and we have a 6 ft deep hole in our backyard. Thats most of what I have been doing. The forms for the footings are in, and could be poured as soon as tomorrow, maybe Tuesday. After that, we build up block walls, lay a concrete slab, stick walls, stairs, and a roof. Then just re-level land, put up fence, seed lawn, plant some trees and shrubs and such, and we will be done. Yeah, easy.

We lost power for most of yesterday. Was a nasty storm. South end was one of worst hit areas in the state. Power went out during the second storm, was out about 3 or 4, and didn’t come back till 4 or 4:30. Woke us up cause all the lights and TVs and stuff that had been on, suddenly came back on. So we watched the news for a bit, then went to Rudy J’s, then back to sleep. Was almost unbearable trying to sleep without a fan or anything on.

Tim and my Grandma went to Pennsylvania for the weekend. They took Molly there (new one, not mine) because of a long story I don’t want to get into. I just hope the dog gets a good home.

Jenn and I are going camping tomorrow, for 3 days (Tuesday evening, Wednesday, Thursday morning) at RRRA. I will post on that Thursday night.

OK, I think that’s enough for now. Will add anything else I remember next time, along with a new poll.

“What are you doing here?”
“You know.”
“I don’t think I do.”
“Oh, I think you think you don’t know, but I know you do.”
Blank stare.
